The former site of Shantou Hotel is located at No. 43, Shangping Road, Jinping District, Shantou City. It was first built in 1948, facing southwest from the northeast. It is a five-story European-style arcade building with a reinforced concrete structure, covering an area of 246.33 square meters.
Shantou Hotel embodies the nostalgia of Chaoshan people at home and abroad and tells the stories of Shantou in that era. With the continuous development of the conservation and activation work of the historical and cultural blocks in Shantou’s port-opening area, more and more historical memories are coming to people’s attention, being discovered, recorded, and understood.
The People’s Government of Jinping District, Shantou City, included the former site of Shantou Hotel in the “List of Immovable Cultural Relics Newly Discovered in the Third National Cultural Relics Census of Jinping District” in 2011, determining that the former site has a certain guiding role in the study of Shantou’s early financial economy.
