The Shuangshi Bridge is located in the western part of Shantou city, Guangdong Province. It starts from National Road 324 Guangshan Highway in the south, spans the Shantou Harbor, and connects with National Road 206 in the north. It is the second extra-large cross-sea bridge constructed after the Bay Bridge in the eastern part of Shantou city. The total budget is 1.25 billion yuan. The main bridge of the Shuangshi Bridge is 2865 meters long, and the total length of the bridge, including interchanging ramps, approach ramps, and approach roads, is 5976 meters. The bridge has six lanes with pedestrian sightseeing paths on both sides, and the total width of the bridge deck is 30.5 meters. The main tower stands at 148 meters tall, the main span of the bridge is 518 meters, and the navigation clearance is 38 meters, allowing passage for 20,000-ton class vessels. The main bridge features a mixed structure of steel strand cable-stayed beams and steel box girders with PC beams, a first in China, showcasing advanced technology and grand presence. The bridge was completed in December 1998. The completion of the Shuangshi Bridge, along with the Bay Bridge, forms a cross-sea traffic loop, which plays a significant role in promoting and improving the investment environment and economic development of Shantou city.
