North Shaanxi Road is a north-south road in the central area of Shanghai. It is mainly located in Jing’an District, and the northern section extends into Putuo District. It starts from Middle Yan’an Road and connects to South Shaanxi Road in the south and ends at Yichang Road by the Suzhou River in the north. In 1905, it was named Seymour Road after a British general and was completed in 1914. In 1943, the Wang Jingwei government renamed it North Shaanxi Road. Within a distance of only about 500 meters from Xinzha Road to Nanjing West Road, there are nearly 20 historical and cultural landscapes such as former residences of celebrities, typical style buildings, and revolutionary relics, such as the Seymour Road Synagogue, the old residence of the Rong family, the old residence of the Song family, and Chongde Girls’ Middle School.
