The Shazhou Red Tourism Area with half a quilt integrates the red spirit, green scenery, ancient charm and ethnic style. It is a red scenic area established under the background of ‘Changzheng Town’, Shazhou Village. Shazhou Village is known as ‘the village of the Red Army landlord’ because of the story of ‘half a quilt’ in 1934. It is the location of the former site of the first army’s health department during the Long March and the discovery place of Red Army books.
In 1934, three female Red Army soldiers stayed overnight at the home of the elderly Xu Jiexiu. Before leaving, they cut off half of their only quilt and left it for the elderly. Shazhou Village carries forward the spirit of the Long March, unites the efforts of the whole village, and turns the village into a red classic tourism characteristic countryside, becoming another red tourism destination.
