She Ethnic Minority Folk Museum is located at No. 49 Renmin North Road, Hongxing Street, Jingning She Autonomous County. It was founded by Lei Xian Ying, the chairman of Jingning She Autonomous County Longfeng Nationality Costume Co., Ltd., and is a private museum that showcases the production and living utensils, as well as the manufacturing techniques and traditional customs of the She ethnic group through generations, all for free.
Formerly known as the She Ethnic Folk Palace, the museum has been recognized as a ‘Lishui City Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Base’. The She ethnic costumes have been appraised as ‘Zhejiang Province Intangible Cultural Heritage Production Protection Base’. The museum now houses over 20,000 pieces of collection, including She ethnic costumes, ribbons, embroideries, antique beds, stone pillars, and tools for production and daily life.
Among the collections, there are many treasures, such as the She ethnic ribbons with regional characteristic symbols. One of these ribbons is 5.1 centimeters wide and 260 centimeters long, with 56 ethnic names woven in the middle, reflecting the superb ribbon weaving skills of the She people. In the Zhejiang Folk Collection Top Ten Public Selection Event, the museum was awarded as ‘Top Ten Collectors of Lishui City’ and ‘Top Ten Folk Artworks of Lishui City’ for the Qingjing-style She ethnic headdress, which won the Bronze Award for Arts and Crafts at the 2011 China Yiwu Cultural Industry Fair.
