Shenglengshan Forest Park is located in Banan District, Chongqing, 70 kilometers away from downtown Chongqing. Shenglengshan is also known as ‘Shengdeng Mountain’. According to legend, Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty took refuge in Sichuan and once lived here in a thatched cottage, hence the name. The forest on the mountain is lush and dense, especially with many strange trees and rare birds, full of natural wonders.
It is famous for its peculiar, beautiful, ancient and thrilling natural landscapes. There are many kinds of plants on the mountain, including more than 120 species such as Pinaceae and Taxodiaceae. In the成片 subtropical native vegetation, there are nanmu and ancient pines with a tree age of 300-400 years, the rare tree species Amentotaxus argotaenia, and ancient ginkgo trees with a tree age of more than 500 years. Not far from the foot of the mountain is the Tanzaikou Reservoir. The dam is 116 meters long and 33 meters high, magnificent. The wide lake is surrounded by green mountains, and the green water and green mountains are integrated. Egrets and herons inhabit the pine forest by the lake all year round, forming a scene of the lake area. Usually, the mountain is surrounded by thick fog. On rainy days, the fog covers the top of the mountain, and heaven and earth are integrated. The scenery in the mountain is hazy and blurred, adding a bit more mystery. On sunny days, the fog is white. The thin fog rises from all directions, floating, light, unpredictable, and just like a fairyland.Opening hours: From October 16 to December 31, it is open from 08:00 to 17:00; from March 1 to October 15, it is open from 08:30 to 16:30; from January 1 to February 29, it is open from 08:00 to 17:00.
