Abundant in stones of superior quality, Shenggui Mountain has long been a quarrying site, hence its alternative name, DASHI Mountain. Ascending to the summit of the lush Shenggui Mountain, one can look south over Yao City and witness a crisscross network of roads, meandering paths, towering buildings, and a flurry of vehicular and boat traffic, all indicative of the city’s prosperity. This vibrant scene unfolds before the eyes.
Historically, Shenggui Mountain was home to the Temple of General Liu, dedicated to Eastern Jin Dynasty General Liu Laozhi. During the Ming Dynasty’s Jiajing era, the Fuchu Academy was constructed in front of the temple. By the early Wanli period, a monk transformed the temple into Lingyan Zen Temple, commonly referred to as Shenggui Mountain Temple. In recent years, it has been renovated and renamed Lingyan Zen Temple. It is open to the public from 7:00 to 16:30 all year round.
