Shengshan, historically known as Chenqian Mountain and also referred to as Jinshan, is affectionately called the hometown of the sun in the East China Sea by its inhabitants. Two scenic spots on Shengshan Island are a must-mention: one is the East Cliff on Shengshan Island, and the other is the fishing lights of Shengshan Fishing Port.
The East Cliff is a 1000-meter long shoreline on the eastern side of Shengshan Island, winding and rising abruptly from the sea, resembling a knife cut or an axe chop, with heights ranging from 60 to 70 meters, and the top reaching over 80 meters, making it a spectacular sight. Standing on the top of the East Cliff, the surging waves below create a thunderous sound that sends chills down one’s spine; while gazing into the distance, the vast sea and the scattered fishing boats bring a sense of serenity and pleasure. These contrasting feelings intertwined allow one to savor the essence of the island’s time and the maritime state of mind.
On the island, there is also one of the unique Shengsi stone scenes, known as the ‘Lovers’ Stone.’ The beach next to the Lovers’ Stone is a popular spot for locals to swim in the summer. The island is open all year round and accessible at all times, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening conditions.
