Strolling around West Lake, near the Sixth Park, there stands a quadrangular pavilion named Shengtang Zhua Pavilion. It features upturned eaves and stands by the lake. With white walls and black tiles, it appears simple yet ancient from afar.

Shengtang Zhua Pavilion is named after Shengtang sluice, which lies beneath the pavilion. On the back of the pavilion, a stone stele is engraved with ‘Qiantang Lake Stone Record’, which is the full text of Bai Juyi’s proclamation on managing West Lake during his tenure in Hangzhou. The main discussion revolves around the utilization of West Lake water for irrigation, well washing, and transportation. It resonates with the ‘Farewell Bai Gong Sculpture’ not far away. Open all year round from 08:00 to 22:00.
