Shentong Temple is located at the foot of Qinglong Mountain in Liubu, Licheng District, Jinan City, Shandong Province. It is an ancient famous temple and also the birthplace of Shandong Buddhism. At that time, there were more than ten upper and lower courtyards, and the long corridor was more than a thousand rooms in length and breadth. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it became even more prosperous, with more than 500 monks.
Many pagodas were built and a large number of Buddha statues were made, thus becoming a prosperous place of Buddhism. The original temple took the gate tower, the main hall of Sakyamuni, the Thousand Buddha Hall, the abbot’s meditation hall and the Dharma hall as the central axis, and the left and right sides were flanked by the Garan and Dharma halls and the dining corridor. By the Qing Dynasty, it was abandoned. Now there are remaining Buddhist sites such as the Four-Gated Pagoda, the Dragon and Tiger Pagoda, the Nine-Peak Pagoda, the tomb pagoda forest and the cliff carvings. Opening hours: open all day throughout the year.
