After a year of hiatus, Bad Sweetheart’s second full-length album ‘You Fell Asleep on the Curtain’ was officially released at midnight on November 14th. This is another long work following their EP ‘GoodGood BadBad’ released two years ago. Like the long summer vacation between two semesters, good friends and we meet again as promised today. With the intro track ‘Rabbit Sitting Still’ rolling in, the clumsy yet agile distorted guitar, those youth fragments trapped in the shaking handheld DV lens seem to come back to us again. ‘Naturally’ and ‘I Do What I Wanna Do’ make people unconsciously count the rhythm with their toes; ‘You Don’t Need a Photo’ perfectly imprints this autumn in your mind both visually and audibly; the ever-changing ‘2029’ along with the profound ending, the intense ‘Rowing Race’ makes people sweat, and the nearly 60-minute music concludes in memory… ‘Some things we thought we had lost, we mobilized all our friends to search for them, only to find that they were not lost, but sleeping in the curtain.’ ‘You Fell Asleep on the Curtain’ includes 13 works, some of which were shown in their original form during the 2023 tour; more as the album says, it is the ‘rambling worries’ of every stage since the establishment of Bad Sweetheart, through many summers and autumns. From the first album ‘That’s Enough for Today’, the hidden worries between mobile phone notes and voice recorders were gradually discovered and shared, to the different expression taken after growing in ‘GoodGood BadBad’, now after the test of friendship, He Mingyang, Li Fan, and Jiang Honglang’s trio chooses to continue, welcoming every challenge with a persistent DIY spirit and a life attitude that laughs until tears come. Earlier, the band released the self-made MV of the pre-release song ‘Drowsy Rainy Day’. The blue bedding makes people feel comfortable and secure, our lives are like the protagonist played by drummer Li Fan, being taken out of the mysterious bed one by one, all happiness, threats, and safety are clearly visible in the small world of Simmons.
The three members played themselves with the help of friends, which is also their first attempt to shoot an MV for their own song, and the fun is no less than a group assignment in a high school chemistry class.Low-cost creation yields rich rewards, as the saying goes, ‘1000 yuan can do anything’. Following the restored supervisory video, we watch Bad Sweetheart move into the rehearsal room in Li Fan’s new home basement, recording their musical inspirations with second-hand equipment that may not be expensive but is very convenient. With a simple shout of ‘Go!’, they can immediately get into the groove, and their hearty laughter can still be heard from time to time in their daily lives.

Bad Sweetheart’s ‘Warm Warm Tear’ 2024 end of year four-city special performances have officially opened for ticket sales. Having just released a brand new album, Bad Sweetheart will meet everyone in Chengdu, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou during this New Year’s transition period, to spend a pleasant evening together. In addition, for this four-city special and the previously announced Wuhan Christmas Eve special, Bad Sweetheart will invite Yu Tong from Silly Function as a guest guitarist to participate in the performance, so stay tuned.
