Shenzhen Bay Bridge

The Shenzhen Bay Highway Bridge starts from the reclamation area of Dongjiaotou on the Shenzhen side and connects to Dongjiaotou in Shekou, Shenzhen, and Nong Lam Ngau Tam Shek in Hong Kong. It is designed to meet the standards of a highway with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour, a bridge width of 33.1 meters, and is a dual six-lane highway with emergency parking strips on both sides.
Shenzhen Bay Bridge, also known as the ‘Shenzhen-Hong Kong Western Corridor’, is a highway bridge that connects Dongjiaotou in Shekou, Shenzhen, and Nong Lam Ngau Tam Shek in Hong Kong, and was opened on July 1, 2007. The bridge features two navigation openings, one in the south and one in the north, using a single-tower steel truss cable-stayed bridge design with main spans of 210 meters and 180 meters. Non-navigation spans use 75-meter continuous box girders.

To improve driving conditions and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the bridge, the bridge’s axis is designed in an S-shape. From the Shenzhen side across the sea, a silver passage meanders across the water, with the cable-stayed bridge shining brightly in the sunlight, symbolizing the close handshake between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. From a high vantage point, the slightly S-shaped bridge winds across the sea surface like a giant dragon spanning the junction of sky and sea. The slight curvature of the passage not only allows drivers to appreciate the beauty of the cable-stayed bridge along the way but also contributes to the safety of the bridge and driving.

The bridge is open all year round and is accessible 24 hours a day.
