The Zhongying Street Historical Museum, originally known as the Zhongying Street Historical Memorial Hall, is located at No. 9 Nei Huan Cheng Road, Sha Toujiao Town, Yantian District, Shenzhen. It is a thematic local history museum that was established and opened on May 1, 1999. The total construction area of the exhibition building is 1688 square meters, comprehensively documenting and reflecting the century-old vicissitudes of Zhongying Street. The museum has also made some attempts in the display and presentation techniques. For instance, the restoration display recreates the prosperous and peaceful market scene of Donghe Market in the late Qing Dynasty, which includes more than 40 houses, over 200 market-goers, and more than 1000 various props, truly reflecting the local people’s transition from a traditional agricultural economy to a commodity economy. Additionally, the exhibition showcases the vigorous development of Zhongying Street from aspects such as reform and opening up and the construction of spiritual civilization. The Zhongying Street Warning Bell displayed on the museum square serves as a constant reminder for visitors and students to remember the humiliating history of Zhongying Street. It complements the No. 1 boundary marker of Zhongying Street, becoming a landmark of the area. The museum is open all year round from 09:00 to 16:30. Before visiting the Zhongying Street Historical Museum in Sha Toujiao Town, Yantian District, Shenzhen, visitors must first obtain a ‘Border Restricted Area Pass’ at the ‘Han Hai Cui Ting’ first floor on the right side of the Zhongying Street checkpoint – the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Border Defense Sixth Brigade Office, where the pass is used in conjunction with an identity card.
