Shi Mu Rock Scenic Area is located in Gaoping Township, Suichang County, at the border between Suichang and Quzhou, 60 kilometers away from Suichang County town. The main peak, Taoyuanjian, has an elevation of 1438 meters. Situated in the subtropical monsoon climate zone, the area boasts lush vegetation, fresh air, abundant negative oxygen ions, and a cool and pleasant climate with a well-preserved ecological environment.

The geographical features of the mountainous area are typical of Danxia landforms, with towering peaks, grotesque rocks, and notable formations such as Shi Mu Rock, Shouxing Rock, Fuchi Rock, Bijia Peak, Shenshi Peak, and Taoyuanjian (ten thousand mu of Rhododendron forest), which together form a unique landscape that includes alpine platforms, alpine wetlands, the original group of Huadong Shanliu, and clear springs and waterfalls.

The Shi Mu Rock Scenic Area is a quintessential Danxia landform landscape, with horizontal rock layers that have been eroded by rivers and weathering, creating a variety of peculiar shapes and rich scenery within the red stratum landforms. The mountain colors resemble the rising sun, and the shapes of the mountains are like pillars, towers, forts, bells, and animals, rising abruptly from the flat ground with steep prominence. Among these, Shi Mu Rock and Shouxing Rock stand out. Shi Mu Rock stands atop a peak at an elevation of 1000 meters, resembling a pillar, with a prominent and magnificent presence. The area is open all year round, accessible 24/7.
