Shimen Academy boasts a rich history, originally established during the Tang Dynasty in the third year of the Tianbao era. The architectural style of the reconstructed Shimen Academy is a quadrangle-style academy typical of the Yuan and Ming dynasties.
It gained fame because Liu Ji, a renowned scholar, studied here, and was praised by the Qing poet Qian Hongji with the verse ‘For three hundred years of the Ming, divine might was written here’.
Opening hours are from 10:00 to 17:00 all year round.
