Shimen Mountain is located 20 kilometers east of Longgang Town in Dazu County, in Xinsheng Village, Shima Town, with an elevation of 374.1 meters. The carvings were created between 1094 and 1151 AD (from the Shaosheng period of the Northern Song Dynasty to the 21st year of the Shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty). The total length of the cliff face with the carvings is 71.8 meters, with a height ranging from 3.4 to 5 meters. The carvings are collectively numbered as 16, including 12 niches with statues. In addition, there are 20 inscriptions related to the carvings, 8 steles and inscriptions, 8 records of repairs, and the names of craftsmen such as Wen Weiyi, Wen Judao, and Jian Zhongjin engraved.
