The Shimen Scenic Area is located 8 kilometers away from the park hotel. Two stone mountains stand upright with jagged rocks. They are several hundred feet high. The ancient pines on the mountain top are vigorous and majestic, just like two opened stone gates. Even more wonderfully, there is a thousand-year-old banyan tree on each side, like a pair of male and female lions closely guarding the stone gate. Here, you can enjoy the majestic stone gate, Shimen fragrant snow, autumn and winter red leaves, Mucuna bird flowers, rare plants, and Shimen streams. You can also visit the various Shimen secluded valleys. The Shimen secluded valley is 2.5 kilometers in length and is one of the components of the canyon adventure area. In the secluded valley, a small stream flows downstream. Trekking upstream along the stream, walking in the secluded valley, listening to the gurgling sound of water and pleasant bird songs, enjoying the jagged rocks everywhere, and admiring the pools of water as green as jade. The two peaks on both sides of the Shimen Twin Peaks road face each other. The cliffs are upright and as sharp as if cut by a knife, naturally forming a ‘gate’. In the Shimen Scenic Area, you can see patches of peach blossoms. The Furong plank road in Shimen is more than 800 meters long, mainly consisting of stone-based hydrophilic walkways and wooden plank hydrophilic plank roads. The plank road goes upstream along the stream and connects to scenic spots such as Shimen fragrant snow and Shimen secluded valley in the central area of Shimen. Because hibiscus is planted on both sides of the plank road, it is named ‘Furong plank road’. Strolling in it, the gurgling water is pleasant to the ear. The chirping of insects and birds is melodious. In May, when hibiscus blooms, the flower light and water shadows complement each other, forming a beautiful scene of ‘hibiscus reflecting in the water’. Opening hours: From May 1st to October 31st, it is open from 09:00 to 19:00; from November 1st to April 30th, it is open from 09:00 to 18:00.
