Shizhu Lake, formerly known as Dongzhang Reservoir, is nestled within the Shizhu Mountain Scenic Area. Constructed in 1958, it boasts a capacity of 185 million cubic meters and covers a water surface area of 15 square kilometers. It is affectionately referred to as the ‘Mother Lake’ of Fuqing, serving as a crucial source for drought resistance and water storage over the years.
Within the reservoir, the Carp Mountain is surrounded by misty waves, with the lush forests of the Carp Tail Mountain to its south. The Ziyun Pagoda, built during the Ming Dynasty, stands across the lake from the Shizhu Temple, creating a distinctive scenic view.
