Shou’an Temple is one of the four ancient temples on Chongming Island. It was originally built during the Chunyou period of the Song Dynasty, with a history of over seven hundred years.
Shou’an Temple was once praised for its beautiful scenery with the saying ‘Temple surrounded by green mountains, pavilion with clear water’, but later suffered destruction due to war and pirate invasions. The existing Shou’an Temple was reconstructed in 1983, featuring the main hall, the Mahavira Hall, and the Trinity Hall, which has its own charm. The temple is open to visitors all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.Shou’an Temple
