The China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Vegetable Expo) is an annual regular meeting jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the People’s Government of Shandong Province, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the State Administration for Market Regulation (Standardization Administration), and China Agricultural University.
So far, it has been successfully held for 23 consecutive sessions. More than 30 million people from more than 50 countries and regions and 32 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, and special administrative regions have participated in the exhibition and conference, achieving a trade volume of more than 200 billion yuan. Over the years, the Vegetable Expo has developed into a national AAAAA-level agricultural exhibition. It is the first unit in China to obtain dual certification of membership and exhibition in the field of vegetable technology exhibitions by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). It is also one of the eight national exhibitions retained by Shandong Province. During the exhibition, a large number of people, logistics, information flow, technology flow, and capital flow gather here, greatly expanding the development space of vegetables and related industries and having a huge impact in the field of domestic and foreign vegetable industries. The 24th Vegetable Expo, with the theme of ‘Green, Technology, Future’, will be held from April 20 to May 30, 2023 at the Shouguang High-tech Demonstration Garden of Vegetables (Shouguang International Convention and Exhibition Center). The Shouguang High-tech Demonstration Garden of Vegetables is one of the first batch of national agricultural science and technology parks named by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is a national demonstration base for introducing foreign intellectual achievements and a national agricultural tourism demonstration site. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, this exhibition aims to serve agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. Taking promoting the rural revitalization strategy and the transformation of new and old kinetic energy in agriculture as the starting point, following the operation concept of ‘sponsored by the government, operated by the market, highlighting characteristics, and emphasizing practical results’, relying on the advantages of Shouguang’s vegetable industry, it comprehensively collects, displays, exchanges, and promotes new technologies, new varieties, new achievements, and new concepts in the domestic and foreign vegetable industry and related fields. The total area of the main exhibition area is 450,000 square meters, of which the indoor exhibition area is 165,000 square meters, including 10 exhibition halls, a picking garden, a high-yield cultivation area of solar greenhouses, a vegetable museum, a leisure farm, and an outdoor exhibition area. It mainly displays new scientific and technological achievements, cutting-edge practical technologies, famous, excellent, rare, and special varieties of vegetables, seeds and related industries, and vegetable culture. It is planned to display more than 2,000 vegetable varieties, including more than 400 new varieties; more than 80 advanced planting modes; and more than 100 cutting-edge technologies. During the exhibition, high-end conference and forum activities such as the launching ceremony of ‘China Food Safety Miles Journey’ and the 2023 China Rural Revitalization Food and Agricultural Products Industry Development Summit Forum will also be held. By connecting global high-quality vegetables, seeds and seedlings, modern agricultural machinery with ‘Made in Shouguang’, enhancing the brand advantages of ‘the hometown of Chinese vegetables’ and ‘Shouguang vegetables’, improving the level of agricultural industrialization, standardization, branding, and internationalization, and striving to create a new international agricultural cooperation platform for agricultural scientific and technological innovation, demonstration and promotion, and inclusiveness and mutual benefit, it will make positive contributions to continuously promoting agricultural and rural modernization and innovatively improving the ‘Shouguang model’.Blessed by the three saints, the fertile land and rich local customs are celebrated.
