Shuangfengzhai was built in 1899. Due to the rampant local banditry, squire Li Zisheng raised 30,000 taels of silver. It took 12 years before and after to build this amazing defensive barrier. Shuangfengzhai is rectangular as a whole and is built by mixing lime and blue bricks. It was a rare giant stockaded fortress at that time. At the beginning of its completion, it was named Shitangzhai. Later, inspired by the horizontal plaque ‘Shuangfeng Protection’ in front of the stockaded gate, it was renamed ‘Shuangfengzhai’ and has been used ever since. The defensive structure of Shuangfengzhai is interlocked. To enter the stockaded gate, one must first pass through a moat more than 13 meters wide. Even if the suspension bridge on the river is lowered, there are still two heavy stockaded gates deeply locked when passing through the suspension bridge castle. The stockaded gate adopts a fully sealed camphor wood material. Ordinary swords and guns cannot penetrate. Before liberation, Shuangfengzhai was in a state of devastation due to war damage and years of wind and rain erosion. After repeated repairs, it was preserved. In 2006, Shuangfengzhai was approved by the State Council to be included in the list of the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. The specific business status of the opening hours is subject to the opening situation on that day.
