Shuangjiang Ancient Town is located in Shuangjiang Town, Tongnan County, downstream of the Fu River. It is one of the top ten historical towns in Chongqing City. The town was established during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, with a history of more than 400 years. Surrounded by Fuxi and Houxi rivers, the town features ancient streets paved with stone slabs. Presently, there are nine streets: Zhongjie, Dongjie, Shangxijie, Xiaxijie, Nanjie, Beijie, Xinglongjie, Shui Xiangzi, and Laozhu Xiang.


The town boasts over 20 large-scale ancient residential buildings with distinctive Qing Dynasty architectural styles, such as ‘Yuwang Palace’, ‘Qing Dynasty Residences’, ‘Xinglong Street Courtyard’, ‘Yuantaihe Courtyard’, ‘Post Office Courtyard’, ‘Changtan Sizhitang’, and ‘Huimin Palace’, which are praised by experts as ‘a rare collection of Qing Dynasty residential buildings’. On the approximately 700-meter-long ‘Qing Dynasty Street’, the buildings are scattered with deep courtyards, exuding an ancient charm.
