Shuangqing Villa

Shuangqing Villa is located on the southeast side of Beijing Xiangshan Park. It is named after the two clear springs in the courtyard. It is one of the twenty-eight scenic spots of Xiangshan inscribed by Emperor Qianlong. In the Qing Dynasty, this place was the former site of ‘Songwu Mountain Villa’ in Jingyi Garden, a royal garden. Later, it was rebuilt into Shuangqing Villa by Xiong Xiling, a civilian educator.

The environment in the villa area is elegant. With its verdant bamboo forests, towering ginkgo trees that block out the sun, tall and straight pine and cypress trees, and simple buildings, it attracts people to visit. In 1949, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China once worked in Jingyi Garden. In the middle of the courtyard, there is a hexagonal red pavilion. Next to it is a pool of water.

There are also two air-raid shelters behind the mountain, which were built by the People’s Liberation Army at that time. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year, from 9:00 to 16:00.
