Shuangxi Mingyue is a scenic spot located to the east of Paotai Town, where the south and north branches of the Rongjiang River converge and flow into the sea. According to records in the Qing Dynasty’s ‘Hanjiang Wenjian Lu’: ‘On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, when the tide rises, the moon emerges from the peak of Sangpu Shime, and one can see the reflection of the double moons at the confluence, which is indeed a marvel.’ The river here is broad, and on moonlit nights, boating and touring this area offers a captivating night view. Guo Zhiqi, in ‘Liangxi Mingyue,’ also wrote, ‘I often recall the language of Yuan Hui like a practiced speech, further adding the moon’s meaning to the river’s sentiment.’ During the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty, to defend against Japanese pirates, seven large stones were placed here to prevent pirate ships from invading, known as the Seven Star Stones. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
