Shuangxiu Park is located in Beitaipingzhuang, Xicheng District, Beijing, on the south side of the North Third Ring Road, and was opened to the public in 1984.
The park consists of two parts: a Chinese-style garden and a Japanese-style garden, making it the only garden in Beijing with Japanese architectural features. It is renowned for its clear water and lush mountains, including the Japanese-style ‘Cui Shi Garden’ and the Chinese-style ‘Hui Fang Garden’, hence the name ‘Shuangxiu Garden’. The rocks and other construction materials were gifts from Japanese friends. Within the park, the architectural styles are simple and elegant, with distinctive pavilions, bridges, and halls situated amidst the mountains and waters. The turtle and crane islands in the pond symbolize auspiciousness. In recent years, due to the complexities in Sino-Japanese relations, an American-style villa has been built in the central courtyard, replacing the original landscape with steel supports, and a security guard room has been constructed on the lawn, leaving little trace of the original garden. Opening hours: The park is open all year round from 7:00 to 21:00.Must Read
