According to historical records, the villagers of Dongshan revered the deities of the Dongshan Shuangzhong Temple, and thus built another Shuangzhong Temple within the urban area of Miancheng. To distinguish it from the temple on Dongshan, it was named Shuangzhong Xingci. In the second year of the Qing Dynasty’s Shunzhi period, the local gentry Yao Sunbing rebuilt the temple and welcomed a portion of the deity from Dongshan to be enshrined in the Xingci, keeping the original name Shuangzhong Xingci on the plaque.
