Shuidong Street is located in Qiaodong, Huizhou, running east-west. It connects to Huixin West Street in the east and intersects with Shuina South Road, and in the west it connects to Dongxin Bridge. The street is 730 meters long and 14-18 meters wide, initially constructed during the Northern Song Dynasty Yuanfeng period (1078-1085). According to the ‘Huizhou City Construction Chronicles’: ‘The Shuidong Street rebuilt in 1928 is well-preserved, featuring uniform arcades that form two long corridors on both sides of the street. People live above the arcades, and the space below serves as a pedestrian walkway, allowing pedestrians to stay dry in the rain.’ At that time, Huizhou’s industry and commerce were concentrated in Shuidong Street, which is why it was known as a ‘prosperous place.’
Opening hours: January 1st to December 31st, open all day long.
