Shuiman Township is located at the foot of the Wuzhi Mountain, in the northeast of Wushi City, 34 kilometers away from the urban area of Wuzhi Mountain and 8 kilometers from the Haiyu Central Line.
The name ‘Shuiman’ first appeared in the Hainan local records during the Qing Dynasty, when it was one of the six villages under Guihua Map in Ding’an County. The meaning of this Li language place name in Chinese is ‘extremely ancient and supreme’. The location of Shuiman Township lives up to its name, as determined by Hainan geological expert Li Fu, it is one of the townships with higher altitudes on Hainan Island, and its Shuiman Upper Village is the village with a higher altitude within its territory.
