The site of the bell tower base is located on the south bank of Daming Lake. It is one of the oldest buildings in Jinan urban area at present and is listed as the third batch of cultural relic protection units in Jinan. The site of the bell tower base was built in the Yuan Dynasty. Its original name was Kanghe Shangyuan. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, it was changed to Zhen’an Yuan, also known as Bell Tower Temple.

There was originally an iron bell cast in the Mingchang period of the Jin Dynasty in the temple. Now it is suspended in the Mingchang Bell Pavilion on the north bank of Daming Lake. The sound of the bell carries beautiful wishes. It is rumored that within a radius of ten miles, it is majestic and exciting, resounding through the blue lake, making people excited and inspired. The site of the bell tower base is a rare Ming Dynasty building in Jinan at present.

As an important part of the old city area, the site has its unique historical value and cultural relic value. After the expansion of Daming Lake, the site is an important part of the new scenic spot of Daming Lake, ‘Morning Bell of Ming Lake’. It is open all day throughout the year. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
