The Six Dynasties Well Pavilion is located within the Shen Garden in Shaoxing, showcasing the historical architectural remains such as pavilions, brick wells, ponds, and rockeries from the Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties. It serves as a tangible testament to the long-standing history of Shen Garden.

Inside the pavilion, there is an ancient well, which allows a view of the sky through its central opening. The pavilion’s roof is hollow, enabling the well to collect dew from the sky, symbolizing the poet’s desire to gather spilled water. The hollow design, known as ‘receiving heavenly light,’ addresses the issues of rainwater activity and lighting, allowing visitors to experience the aspiration for a bright and free marriage.

The pavilion is open all year round, with full-day access. For specific opening times, please consult the local tourist information.
