Siyue Academy is located in Dongmen Pedestrian Street, Luohu District. It was built in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 300 years. It was originally the ancestral hall of the Zhang family in the Ming Dynasty. It is a famous and powerful family in Shenzhen. There are four brothers arranged in sequence as: Siyue, Aiyue, Huaiyue, and Nianyue. The original site of Siyue Academy is at No. 22, Nanqing Street. It is an ancient site familiar to old Shenzhen people. Later, it was moved to the current site. After reconstruction, the original architectural style is still retained. Today, Siyue Academy has the ‘unique in China’ one-stroke hollow characters and the folk paper-cut art of cutting into characters with one cut; ‘wheat scalding paintings’ and ‘bean paintings’ are vivid; there are all kinds of stationery; every piece of Jingdezhen porcelain is extremely exquisite. The handwriting of famous masters is elegant and unrestrained. Opening hours: Open from 9:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Friday throughout the year; Closed all day on Saturday and Sunday throughout the year.
