Songtang Village in Xiqiao Town, Foshan City, originated in the Song Dynasty and has a history of nearly eight hundred years.
The village is built along the hillside with a hundred lanes facing the pond, preserving its ancient village characteristics well. Within the village, there are numerous ancestral halls, family temples, private schools, residential houses with pot-eared roofs, ancient alleys, wells, and old trees, all reflecting the ‘three carvings and one molding’ of Lingnan architectural art, which holds high historical and artistic value. Songtang Village is structured around ancient lane names such as ‘Fengzhi’, ‘Peiyuan’, ‘Zhihe’, and ‘Zhongxin’, with numerous ancestral halls, family schools, and old trees, forming a complete historical style.
