The Arboretum of South China Agricultural University is located on Changgang Mountain within the university campus, covering an area of 24 hectares. The Arboretum is divided into six functional areas: introduction and trial area, tree classification area, afforestation experimental area, breeding trial area, ecological restoration area, and aquatic plant area. The garden currently houses a total of 1065 plant species, including the main constituent tree species of various forests in the South China region, rare and endangered plants, economic plants, garden plants, shade plants, and aquatic plants.
A total of 62 endangered plants have been introduced and planted, including the Golden Flower Tea, which is a national first-level protected plant known as the ‘Panda of the Plant Kingdom’, and the Alsophila, known as the ‘King of Ferns’. There are 20 national second-level protected plants, such as观光木 and Fujian Cypress, and 36 national third-level protected plants, including the Pouteria and White Cassia. Additionally, the garden has introduced a large number of precious timber species, aromatic plants, medicinal plants, woody oil-bearing plants, woody grain plants, fruit trees, and ornamental plants.South China Agricultural University – Arboretum
