The Ancestral Temple was an ancient imperial temple for sacrifices, ranking as the second most important site after the imperial city. In 1995, the Hangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology discovered the eastern wall, eastern gate site, and large rammed earth platform of the Southern Song Dynasty Ancestral Temple, marking a significant breakthrough in the archaeology of the Lin’an city during the Southern Song period.
Many remains of stone walls are left here, along with rammed earth platforms made from yellow clay, and some ‘official bricks’ with inscriptions, which hold great research value. On this important site, a park has now been established, filled with greenery, simplicity, and tranquility, making it an ideal place for weekend relaxation. The park is open from 09:00 to 17:30 all year round.
