The St. Francis Xavier Chapel was built in 1928. The exterior wall of the church is white, with oval windows and a bell tower. In front of the church is a monument commemorating the victory over pirates in 1910. There was originally a silver bone box in the church. Since 1978, it has been moved. The box contains the relics and holy bracelets of St. Francis Xavier. Now it has been sent to the St. Joseph Seminary for collection.
St. Francis Xavier came here with missionaries more than 400 years ago and died on a nearby island in 1552. In addition, the holy bracelets of 59 Japanese and 14 Vietnamese victims left by the fire at the Ruins of St. Paul’s in 1835, which were originally stored in the church, have been moved to the Catholic Art Museum behind the Ruins of St. Paul’s. Opening hours: Open all year round from 09:30 to 17:30. Tips for must-see attractions and travel guides: Although it is just an ordinary church, it has become a place of pilgrimage for many fans because it appeared in the final episode of the Korean drama “Palace”. After eating the egg tarts from Lord Stow’s Bakery, and then slowly walking along Rua de Cinco de Outubro, you will naturally stroll here!St. Francis Xavier Chapel in Coloane
