Originally known as the Hongchaojiang Reservoir, Xingdao Lake derives its name from the 1026 islands scattered across its clear and azure waters, resembling stars in the sky. Surrounded by lush green mountains, these islands are nestled close to each other, with the lake’s water being crystal clear and emerald green. The lake is pleasantly warm in winter and cool in summer, making boat tours an ideal way to explore.
Xingdao Lake is also the filming location for the famous TV series ‘Water Margin’ by CCTV, with an island featuring a ‘Water Margin City’ divided into four distinct sections: Liangshan Area, Wenshu Temple, Yongjin Gate, and Su-Hang Water Street. Strolling through the Liangshan Area, where heroes gathered, one is surrounded by lifelike statues, transporting visitors back to the era of contention among the greenwood heroes. The site is open year-round from 08:00 to 17:00.
