Steamed Bun Hill in Hangzhou is located on Phoenix Mountain Foot Road in the site of the imperial city of the Southern Song Dynasty. It is adjacent to Fengshan in the east, close to the Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway in the south, extends to Phoenix Mountain in the west, and reaches Wansongling in the north. To the east of Phoenix Mountain Foot Road is Steamed Bun Hill. In the late Yuan Dynasty, the southern city wall was rebuilt.
It is said that when Li Xiucheng attacked Hangzhou City for the second time and besieged the city for two months, the soldiers and civilians in the city ran out of food. The Taiping Army steamed big white steamed buns in pots on Steamed Bun Hill every day. The aroma escaped from the steamer and wafted to the gate tower of Fengshan Gate. The Qing soldiers defected upon ‘hearing the news’, and their fighting spirit was dispersed, leading to the city’s fall. The name of Steamed Bun Hill thus came into being. Steamed Bun Hill is also the location of Hangzhou National Reference Climatic Station. Opening hours: open all day throughout the year.Steamed Bun Hill Park
