Sugong Temple is located to the east of the Wobeit Pavilion in Penglai Pavilion Scenic Area, featuring a pavilion-style architecture with the pavilion’s plaque inscribed by the renowned calligrapher Shu Tong. Inside the temple, there is a stone rubbing of Su Shi’s portrait (rubbings from Liuliu Temple in Guangzhou). Over 20 stone carvings from various dynasties are embedded in the inner and outer walls, among which the inner wall’s rubbings of Su Shi’s ‘Poem of the Sea City’ and ‘Gazing at the Sea’, Xue Zhi’s ‘Viewing the Sea’, and the Qing Dynasty calligrapher Weng Fanggang’s regular script rubbing of ‘Poem of the Sea City’ are particularly valuable. The temple is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00; please consult the scenic area for specific opening times.
