The Sun Yat-sen University Biological Museum is composed of botanical, zoological, entomological, and paleontological specimen collections. The botanical specimen collection dates back to the Canton Christian College specimen collection established in 1916, and includes a living bamboo species garden covering an area of approximately 0.8 hectares. The zoological specimen collection was built in the 1920s, while the entomological collection was originally the insect specimen collection from the Lingnan University Natural History Museum. The museum is dedicated to the proper and long-term preservation of the country’s natural resources, serving scientific research, education, and public scientific literacy. It is open all year round on Saturdays and Sundays from 09:00 to 17:00, and during national holidays including New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day from 09:00 to 17:00. The museum is only open to the public on weekends and holidays.
