The inaugural Song Dynasty-style aesthetic resident show, ‘Dongpo Show at West Lake,’ delves into the life experiences of Su Dongpo during his two tenures as an official in Hangzhou. He developed waterways, wells, dredged West Lake, and constructed Su Causeway, benefiting the city of Hangzhou. The performance interweaves reality and illusion, truth and fantasy, with a lingering, gentle melody and soft, expressive dance steps. It is both an affectionate interpretation of Dongpo’s poetry and an elegant tribute to the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty.
