Dr. Sarah Cornell, a renowned American curator, has brought together an exceptional photography exhibition that offers a unique international and innovative perspective to domestic audiences. This exhibition features 100 exclusive works from 39 Western photography masters. The term ‘exclusive’ is used because some of these works are the only ones known to be printed from their negatives, while others are unique due to their production process or made unreproducible by the artists’ inspiration from originally repeatable images.
Visitors to the exhibition will witness the artists’ response to the inherent reproducibility of photography. The works showcase the unique creativity of photography art, capturing the invisible elements of our daily life, such as the passage of time, the trajectory of movement, the trace of light, and even the imprint of deities. These one-of-a-kind creations by the most significant photography masters of the last century highlight the tension between photography and its own reproducibility.
The exhibition also allows us to reflect on the solitary journey of photography masters as they explore the art of photography, retracing the path of ‘A Century of Solitude’ and contemplating the significance of ‘solitude’. The exhibition will be open from September 15th to March 30th, with the specific business status depending on the opening situation on any given day.
