The third edition of the Tai Kwun Parade Ground Music Festival is set to return in December, featuring a variety of meticulously curated concerts by Hong Kong and international artists, creating a unique listening experience within the historic architectural complex of Tai Kwun. We are honored to have the world-renowned Australian Chamber Orchestra as the resident ensemble, led by Artistic Director Richard Tognetti, performing three distinct programs, including a reinterpretation of Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ with Egyptian-Australian Oud player Joseph Tawadros, string masterpieces by Hass and Tchaikovsky, and an artist development program in collaboration with Hong Kong’s Cong Quartet. The festival invites artists to reinterpret the same concept each year, continuing part of the festival’s tradition. This year, we will collaborate once again with violinist Wang Liang (the second associate concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra), inviting seven top musicians from Hong Kong to perform the exhilarating string octet by Romanian composer Antonin Anca. The native pianist Shen Jingtao, beloved by Hong Kong music fans since childhood and very active on the international stage in recent years, will bring the long-awaited solo concert on the eve of the winter solstice, under the full moon. An hour before each concert, the Laundry Steps will host the innovative ‘Fusion’ performances, a collaboration between Hong Kong’s creative ensemble and PUMHKA, which promotes Indian performing arts in Hong Kong, creating innovative programs that blend Indian, Chinese, and Western classical music traditions. Programs: Australian Chamber Orchestra – Starry Seasons Australian Chamber Orchestra – Highland Moon Cong Schubert Quintet Waiting for the Moonrise – Nocturne Hong Kong Creative Ensemble x PUMHKA – FUSE-IN
The full festival is open from 12/05 to 12/15, with performance times and durations subject to change on-site.
