Da Ao Guanyin Temple, originally known as Jishan Hall, was founded by the female Taoist nun Ye Shankai as a Taoist temple named Xiantian Dao. It was also referred to as Pengying Ancient Cave. Master Haishan is revered as the first abbot, who renovated the old hall and renamed the gate plaque to Guanyin Hall.
