Tai Shi Fang is located in Longmei Village, Leiming Town, Ding’an County, and was built in the early spring of the second year of the Wanli era (1574). It was erected by Yin Zhengmao, the Right Deputy Censor-in-chief, and Zhang Shoujie, the Censor-in-chief of Guangdong, in memory of Wang Honghui, the national historian, hence the name Tai Shi Fang. The monument stands at a height of 5.1 meters with three bays, with the central bay (excluding pillars) measuring 2.
84 meters in width, and the side bays (excluding pillars) measuring 1.3 meters. The central bay’s Tai Shi Fang inscribed stone is 80 centimeters wide and 3.1 meters long. A stone is erected between the top cover and the inscribed stone, engraved with the characters ‘En Rong’. On the front of the additional stone of Tai Shi Fang, the regular script characters ‘Tai Shi Fang’ are inscribed horizontally in the middle, with the small script ‘Governor of Fujian and Guangdong, Minister of War, and Right Deputy Censor-in-chief Yin Zhengmao, Censor-in-chief of Guangdong Zhang Shoujie’ inscribed vertically on the right, and on the left, ‘Jiajing Yichou Division, the 20th in the imperial examination, Scholar of the Hanlin Academy, Compiler of the National History, Wang Honghui, established in the second year of Wanli, Jiaxu, in the early winter auspicious day’. On the back of the Tai Shi Fang inscribed stone, the regular script characters ‘Jie Wu Fang’ are inscribed horizontally, and on the left, the small script ‘Jiajing Xinxi Division, the first in the Guangdong provincial examination, Wang Honghui’. Facing the central large pillars, there is an inscribed couplet in regular script, ‘Stone pillars support the sky, the beauty nurtures the South Sea, opens the five fingers, the jade terrace passes through the Big Dipper, the light shakes the North Pole, and responds to the three platforms’, which is said to be written by the famous Ming Dynasty calligrapher Dong Qichang (Dong Qichang was a student of Wang Honghui).
