Taiping Tower – A Majestic View of the Yellow Sea

Taiping Tower is situated at the northeast corner of Penglai Water City on the Pinglang Platform, facing north to south, with two stories. Upon ascending the tower, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the surging Yellow Sea.

Adjacent to the tower are several points of interest, including a statue of Qi Jiguang, the Command Platform, Yongyue Pavilion, and Pinglang Palace.

The statue of Qi Jiguang, located to the south of Taiping Tower, was erected in 1987 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Qi Jiguang’s death. Standing at 4 meters tall, it depicts Qi Jiguang in military attire, chest out and head held high, with a commanding view of the water city.

The Command Platform is located to the west of Taiping Tower, facing north to south, and was historically used for directing and mobilizing the naval vessels within the water city.

Yongyue Pavilion is situated to the east of Taiping Tower, and Pinglang Palace is to the south.

Inside Taiping Tower, there is the Chinese Ship Development Exhibition Hall, which features two exhibition halls for ancient and modern times, displaying over 50 representative ship models from various historical periods in China. This is currently the only exhibition hall dedicated to the development of ships in the country, with models and specifications that are top-notch domestically, uncovering the historical essence of China’s shipbuilding industry at a deeper level.
