In Baikewan Village, Jiufeng Township, Taishun County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, there is a brand-new building located on the mountainside. It is the Memorial Hall of the Advance Division of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. The memorial hall is a two-story building. The green glazed tiles set off the surrounding green mountains and bamboo forests, which is both simple and modern.

There is a square in front of the hall. The stainless steel flagpole in the center of the square stands under the blue sky, and the bright red flag flutters high. The first floor of the memorial hall is a lounge, lecture hall and exhibition room of inscriptions by celebrities. The second floor is an exhibition hall. The exhibition hall uses pictures, materials and cultural relics to show the glorious course of the Advance Division of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army since its establishment in February 1935.

It advanced into Zhejiang to carry out wars, created the southwest and south Zhejiang bases, and was reorganized into the New Fourth Army in March 1938. The cultural relics on display in the display cabinet include earthen guns, broadswords, rice bowls, kettles used by the Red Army, as well as clothes and straw sandals they wore. These bring people back to those arduous years of struggle.
