Tanghe Ancient Town is located in the southwest of Jiangjin City, Chongqing, at the junction of Chongqing and Sichuan, within the scenic area of Heishi Mountain – Gunziping. It is adjacent to Bai Sha Town in the northeast and is close to the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway and the Yangtze River Golden Waterway. In the southwest, it borders with Hejiang, Sichuan.
The ancient town preserves nearly 40,000 square meters of ancient architectural complexes from the Ming and Qing dynasties, mainly distributed in three parts: Tanghe Ancient District, Shi Longmen Manor, and Ting Chong Ancestral Hall. Tanghe Ancient District covers an area of 2.8 hectares, with more than 15,000 square meters of ancient buildings of different styles from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the present. The streets of the ancient town are built along the mountains, starting from the riverside wharf and winding upwards in a ladder-like pattern. The approximately 600-meter-long main street connects two small streets, Heng Jie Zi and Miao Xiang Zi, which are guarded by three stockade gates. As you climb the steps, the buildings along the street are mostly based on bluestone, with brick and wood as walls, featuring eaves and brackets, carved beams and columns, and are well-proportioned and visually pleasing. Opening hours: The town is open all year round, 24/7. Must-see tips: 1. A photography enthusiast’s paradise, suitable for taking retro-style photos.Must Read
