Tanghou Village, located in Suidu Township, Songyang County, was included in the third batch of the中国传统村落名录 in 2014 and is highly preserved in its original state.
Most villagers in Tanghou Village have the surname Chen, with their ancestors settling here during the Southern Song Dynasty. The Chen ancestral hall still stands to this day.
A couplet inscribed on the pillars outside the hall represents the village’s founding principles, which translates to ‘Blessed are the ancestors, their descendants will be wealthy and noble; virtuous are the people, their children and grandchildren will be literate and martial.’
Opening hours are all year round, open all day.
