Taogong Island Scenic Area is the historical residence of Tao Zhugong Fan Li, the Chinese business ancestor and God of Wealth, and Xishi, the Chinese Goddess of Love and the Oriental Venus, who lived 2,500 years ago. Fan Li and Xishi are well-known, culturally rich, and beloved figures in Ningbo’s history, embodying many excellent qualities of the Chinese nation. They represent career, love, wealth, and wisdom, and symbolize happiness, beauty, health, and peace. Dongqian Lake and Taogong Island are named after Tao Gong, making the island a place of auspicious romance in Ningbo.
