Taoshan is located in the northwestern part of Rui’an City, commonly known as Yu Mountain, with a height of several tens of meters and a circumference of about two li, resembling a wooden fish, hence also named Mùyú Mountain.
It is said that during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the renowned Taoist scholar, medical expert, and politician Tao Hongjing, known as the ‘Prime Minister in the Mountains’, secluded himself in Taoshan, Rui’an for many years, leaving behind numerous historical relics and touching stories.
